WHAT WE THINK: 2009 Bowman Chrome Baseball once again hits collectors with the promise of rookie autos, refractors and fun. The box we received was no exception. The product includes the classic Bowman card back filled with prospect reports and resumes and the simple yet classic front design that we have seen for the last several years.
When purchasing Bowman Chrome, you are not only looking for rookie cards, but rookie cards that will retain value. Bowman achieves this by having the most extensive collection of rookies in their set. This year they added a new subset to celebrate the World Baseball Classic. We received several of these in our box, but don't see the real need for collecting them - maybe it's just us, as this may appeal to some collectors and especially those overseas.
The scarcity of the parallels is always exciting with Bowman and it's appreciated that Bowman does not overproduce them. Although we received about 7 refractors, only one xfractor and one blue refractor were pulled, which are the hands down winner for us every year. The blue refractor is quite possibly our favorite parallel card every year of all releases.
With Bowman Chrome, you know what you are going to get…one rookie auto in every box. The rookie autos are fantastic this year - not ONLY are the autos ON-CARD, but also they are in blue pen and really stand out on the card, clearly defining itself from the regular subset cards with the screened autograph. We pulled a refractor autograph in our box of Connor Graham from the Colorado Rockies.
Bowman Chrome is always pretty much a “cant miss” product and this year seems to be the same. If you are looking for a fun set to put together that will have all of the rookies and prospects included, THIS IS IT! 2 prospects in every pack and you still have the elusive red, orange and superfractors in hobby boxes that can turn into nice cash if the player excels.

Topps knows that when something's not broken, you don't fix it. Year after year this product delivers, and this year is no exception. Kudos to Topps for keeping a flagship product going strong. 4.5 out of 5 logos. (Last .5 logo kept off for lack of hits.)
