WHAT WE THINK:
The Women of Star Trek set from Rittenhouse Archives is a must have for any fan of the hit TV series and Movies. One great part is that it incorporates women from ALL of the shows that deal with the universe of Star Trek. This has it all, the beautiful, the different, and the downright odd. Not to mention, there are 5 hits per box!
The 81 card set has a high-gloss finish and a TV set-esque design to the front picture of the card. The back features a different color picture, the name of the character and the series in which she came from, however that is pretty much it. One might typically expect a little more of a bio or character info on the card, but simple is king here. The back does have a silhouette of the back side of a television which ties the design together nicely. Since there are only 81 cards in the set, one hobby box makes it pretty easy to put a complete one together.
There are cards numbered 82-90 within the boxes, and they are hard to come by, however this won't always be the case as they are preview cards for the next set "The Quotable Star Trek Movies."
Insert cards are not only hard to come by, but very sweet looking. Most interestingly done are the Leading Lady cards which are done on the see-through acetate cardstock with a silhouette of the actress. There are also the popular Artifex cards seen in other Rittenhouse Archive releases. Perhaps the best part of the product is that Rittenhouse just seems to get it with insert cards and making them rare and collectable instead of just inundating you with tons of useless inserts.
Another great aspect of Rittenhouse Archive releases are their autographs. The card is always nicely designed to draw out the autograph, and most importantly, the auto is ON THE CARD! Make sure when you pull one to go to the website and see how rare the card is as they put on their site whether it is limited or very limited.
Also included are memorabilia costume cards which fall two per box. The swatches are a nice size and centered on the card to complete a basic but classy design. Even a few of the costume cards are limited so if you pull them, again go to the website!
Rittenhouse knows exactly how to make a hit TV show into a very collectible set, so be sure to check out a box if you are a fan of a show... you wont be dissapointed!
